8 Months!

Our little baby is now 8 months old!  She has learned that she can roll over from back to tummy and then tummy to back to get around.  She is becoming a little roly poly!  She likes to stand holding onto anything she can.  She also makes the most adorable kissing and raspberry sounds! you ever heard!

She has started instantly grabbing for the wipes anytime they are within her reach. Who wouldn't? They are super fun the way another one pops up as soon as you take one.  Most people probably don't immediately put them in their mouth though!

Wrap Party

Opening up the Christmas wrapping box might be her favorite thing she opens this year. It's like she's been transported to a magical world.

7 months

Disneyland

Ella had her first visit to Disneyland Friday!  We were celebrating sissy's birthday (early) and debated leaving Ellie with Grammy, but decided to bring her along.  So glad we did, she did GREAT!  We could not have asked for her to be any better than she was.  She enjoyed checking out all the sights. Her very first ride was Pirates of the Caribbean and she just stared at everything.  She was completely fascinated with Mickey Mouse when we met him and was also super excited to see Elsa.  Her favorite part of the day seemed to be the Finding Nemo Submarine ride.  She was leaning into the little port hole and "talking."  It was so cute to watch her.  Such a fun experience! Happy Halloween

Ella enjoyed her first Halloween.  She liked looking at all the kids and seemed interested in all the costumes.  She did not want to go to sleep and miss out on anything!

Carrots

Ella had some carrots for the first time yesterday on her half birthday. She did better with them than I expected, but of course they will take some getting used to. We started introducing solids about a month ago. We started with just Ella's usual breast milk on a spoon. She did really well with that and so we started adding some rice cereal mix into her milk and increased the amount each time. Eventually we got that to about the same consistency as baby food.  She has started to really enjoy this and likes to take the spoon and try to get it in her mouth herself.  She also likes to cram her whole hand in her bowl and lick her cereal off her hands.  She has even picked up her whole bowl when it was all gone.  When I baked some pumpkin muffins last week I gave her a little of the pumpkin puree mixed with water and her whole body shuddered at the surprise of the new taste. She did better with the carrots though so we will just keep trying.  There are more pictures of her new eating adventure here (pictures with post )

6 months

Happy Half Birthday to our little sweetie! She is now able to sit up for short amounts of time and loves to test out her vocal cords making weird noises. She weighs 17.5 pounds which puts her in about the 75th percentile. She is getting to be such a big girl.

Flip me over!

We were looking at Emma's blog to see what she was doing at 5 months and found this post. It is from Emma's blog, but describes Ella at 5 months exactly...
Emmlla's new favorite game is flip me over! She is great now at rolling over back to tummy. It is one fluid movement rather than the 3 part maneuver it used to be and she wants to do it over and over. The problem is she cannot yet roll from tummy to back so she rolls to her tummy then fusses for us to flip her back then does it all over again and over and over. At least she does not roll over in her crib at night and want us to flip her back in the middle of the night.

Ella loves to roll over now. For a while I called her the rolling over ninja because she would only roll over as a stealth maneuver when no one was around to watch.  We would sit on the floor with her and she would happily coo and roll to the side, but never all the way over.  As soon as I ran to move clothes from the washer to dryer or taking something out of the over I would come back to a baby on her tummy.  I guess she finally felt she had it down well enough to show off for us!  She also LOVES to eat her hands and feet.  So here is a video of her rolling over taking a break to eat her foot.

Laugh

The video is not great, but my phone was right there.  So far Emma is the only one who can get her to do this and it is the cutest thing ever!

5 months

Our beautiful rolling over, foot loving, chewing on everything, giggling, showing interest in solid food and working on sitting up girl!

Buddies

4 months

Our big 4 month old is about 13 pounds, 25 inches and is soooo close to rolling over. She has done it twice, but ends up with her arm pinned under herself. She'll get it any day.

Big Cousin

Ella is now a big cousin!  Little Kaitlyn Elizabeth was born today at 12:04 on her Daddy's birthday!

3 months

12 weeks today!

Sleepy Head

This little one slept for almost 9 hours last night!  That is her longest stretch so far.  She has been a good sleeper from the begining. She started with 3 hour stretches then 4 then 6. She has been doing one 6 hour (about 9p to 3a), waking up to eat and going right back down for another 3 hours before the next feeding for a couple of weeks now, but last night was the first time she slept through that middle of the night feeding. Yay for Mommy getting a nice solid block of sleep! Now we'll see if it was a fluke.

Shower of Love

We had a baby shower for the upcoming arrival of Ella Bay on March 29th. I have such amazing friends who threw an amazing party. It turned out great! Thank you to everyone who came, and we missed all those that could not make it. (pictures with post )

Dr Visit

I had a doctor's appointment today and Miss Ella Bay is doing great. She had a healthy heartbeat of 150bpm (although it was hard for the doctor to get the reading because she was moving around so much). Mommy's glucose, iron and Vit D levels all checked out fine. We also scheduled the C-Section. Ella should be here April 22nd! If that date holds true Emma and Ella will both have birthdays on the 22nd.

Ella in 3D

We decided to to an elective ultrasound since Emma did not get to go to the official medical one, so we got to see Ella today. She weighs in at 2lbs 10oz and looked pretty cozy. Already looking a little squished in there. Her heartbeat was 140bpm. (pictures with post )

Active little one

Unlike her sister, this little girl is very active. Mommy feels her moving around and kicking all day long. Emma was very calm in the womb and she is still a very calm today. We are wondering if Ella's activeness now is a sign of a busy future for us keeping up with this little one.

Ella Bay Bernstein Just like Emma's middle name Merri is a combination of her 2 grandmas, Mary and Terri, Ella's middle name is a combination of her 2 grandpas, Barry and Jay.
